JAMMU, June 22: Mandeep Singh, skipper of the North Zone Cricket team has been ruled out of Duleep Trophy after he got injured. The Selection Committee has now picked Haryana all-rounder Jayant Yadav to lead North Zone team in the upcoming Duleep Trophy.
Punjab batter Nehal Wadhera, who has recently made an impression in IPL for Mumbai Indians and was in stand-by, has been named in the main squad.
The official sources said that they received intimation this morning that Mandeep Singh has got injured and would be unavailable for the Duleep Trophy. Pursuant thereto a video-conference was organized this evening with all the selectors of the North Zone Selection Committee headed by Chetan Sharma.
The selectors during the meeting unanimously decided that Nehal Wadhera would be the replacement for Mandeep Singh and also picked Jayant Yadav to lead the North Zone team in the Duleep trophy.
North Zone will meet North East Zone in the quarterfinal at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from June 28 to July 1.
