JAMMU, Dec 23: Various institutions and organizations celebrated Christmas with religious fervour and gaiety here today.
To celebrate Christmas, Jesus Motivated Group organized Declamation and Speech Competition for the school students of Christian Community at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Parish Hall, Prem Nagar, here.
The competition was conducted in two categories of junior and senior, wherein 63 students of different schools participated.
MSGR Ivan Pereira, the Bishop of J&K Diocese was the chief guest on the occasion, who later on distributed the prizes among winners and runners-up teams/players.
Fr Virkey, Incharge Priest of the Church was the guest of honour, while Anil Gill was the special guest. Raj Verma, Principal DPS Katra, Rajesh Bakshi CPO Crimes Jammu, Johnson Gill, Sr Alphonsa, Sr Babita, Principal St.Peters’ School and FrJohnpaul were the adjudicators of the event.
Welcome address was presented by Rajesh Gill, president of the Group, while proceedings of the function were conducted by Fr Maria Dass and the vote of thanks was presented by the Group Member, Victor bhatti.
In junior category, Rabeeca Rupunzal was declared first, while Siyon Samuel and Mavish Gill bagged seond and third spot respectively, while the consolation prizes were given to Jatin Sotra, Sovin Sandhu and Marita Mattoo.
In senior category, Desire Sotra won first place, while Disha Sotra claimed second and Jene Gill got third place, while the consolation prize was given to Fizza Mooman.
DPS Udhampur celebrated Christmas in a very colourful and impressive way. The students presented Christmas Carole, one act play depicting the message of “Lord Jesus”.
The programme was also coordinated with Union Church who preached about celebration of Christmas. On behalf of Bishop Dr. Santosh Thomas, Mr. Rajan blessed everyone on the beautiful occasion.
Chairman (LMC) of the School Dr J C Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
Principal of the School Sanjeev Pradhan and Vice Principal Sucheta Gupta were present on the occasion.
Apple Kids International Pre- School, Bantalab celebrated Christmas with a festive spirit in the School premises, today.
Clad in colourful and specially designed Christmas dresses, the young students danced on the tunes of popular songs. The School was decorated with cotton, buntings and stars thus giving it a festive appearance.
Students sung Christmas carols and gave an eye-catching performance while dancing on the tunes of “Jingle Bells”.
Later, Principal of the School, Puja Sharma educated the students on the teachings of Jesus Christ in the practical life.
The staff and management of RH Kidz, 28 New Plots, Jammu organized a Christmas party for the students of the School today.
The children participated in games and sports and gifts were distributed among them. Importance of secularism was stressed upon along with the teachings of Lord Jesus.
The little angels along with staff from Astrokids Playway and Primary School Sainik Colony Jammu today celebrated Christmas by visiting Garrison Church Gandhi Nagar. Decoration of X-Mas stockings, making tree with ice cream sticks, Santa masks and snowman decoration and allied activities marked celebrations at the campus.
New Jyoti Higher Secondary School organized poem recitation competition on the eve of Christmas Day, today. School Principal and other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners of the competition. Speakers threw light on the teachings and life of Jesus Christ.
