UDHAMPUR, Oct 28: Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Udhampur has commenced the much-anticipated UT Level Inter-District Basketball Tournament for all age group girls encompassing participants from every region of the Union Territory. This event, orchestrated under the patronage of Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara, encapsulates Union Territory’s enduring commitment to sports excellence and youth empowerment.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai was chief guest and she inaugurated the event while the guest of honour was Swami Chinmay Jyoti.
Addressing the gathering, Rai reinforced commitment to ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ campaign, affirming steadfast dedication to nurture a drug-free India.
DYSSO Udhampur, Romesh Chander Mishra also spoke on the occasion.
Deep Kumar (ZPEO Udhampur), along with Ravi Singh, Sanjay Sharma, Manik Nargotra, Ranbir Singh, Jyoti Sharma, Ishang Bandral and Vipin Photra spearheaded the technical committee.
Registration and coordination responsibilities were entrusted to Pushpinder Kour, Swarandeep Singh Tara, Raman Gupta, Asha, Minakshi Kumari, Nirmal, Nitika Sharma and Sushma Bandral.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Sushma Rani Gupta (ZPEO Jib), Jyoti Rani Gupta (ZPEO Chenani), Vijay Kumar (ZPEO Pancheri), Principal Ashwani Sharma of BBSV and Raj Guru, President Sports Management Committee.
Contributors included Jatinder Kumar, Jaswinder Singh, Somdev Khajuria, Ramesh Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Vikas Sharma, Bhoopinder Singh, Karun Magotra and Jatin Sethi along with volunteers Vikey, Mayank, Anshu Brat Khanna.
About 186 athletes from across J&K were present on the occasion.
