REASI, May 31: The State Level Inter-District Fencing Championship, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports got underway at Reasi, today.
Dr Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, District Development Commissioner Reasi was the chief guest on the occasion, while Vivek Gupta, SSP Reasi was the guest of honour.
The Championship is being organized under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal and under the supervision of Dr SS Chib, DYSSO, Reasi.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest laid emphasis on total fitness, while the guest of honour highlighted the need of sportsmanship in the present scenario.
Promient among others present on the occasion were MM Khajuria and Romail Singh.
In Under-14 boys sabre, Amit Chib of Udhampur bagged gold, Harsh Anand of Jammu clinched silver, while Akshay Sharma of Reasi and Lakshya of Jammu bagged bronze medals, while in Under-14 boys epee, Rajveer Singh of Jammu and Raja Mohd Asif of Reasi bagged gold and silver respectively, while the bronze medal went to Fayaz Ahmed of Udhampur and Prabhjot of Jammu.
In Under-14 boys foil, Prashant Chib of Reasi clinched gold, while Aman Singh of Reasi bagged silver. The bronze medals in this event went to Saksham Gupta of Jammu and Jerrison Mattoo of Jammu.
