Inter-District Fencing, Handball Tournaments get underway

JAMMU, Sept 28: State Level Inter District tournament in the disciplines of Fencing and Handball boys and girls, under all age groups got underway at Guru Har Krishan Public School and MA Stadium, here.
A total of 250 participants from Jammu Division are taking part in the competitions, which are being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman, its Director General and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director.
Chanchal Kour, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jammu is the Organising Secretary of the competitions.
Seven districts of Jammu Division are participating in Under-14, 17 and 19 age groups.
The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams/players for the next level of competitions.
In Handball U-14 boys, District Poonch beat District Jammu by 4 points, while in Handball Under-17 boys, District Udhampur defeated Distct Kathua by 5 points and in Handball Under-19 boys, District Jammu beat District Rajouri by 11 ponts.
In Fencing Under-14 girls (Sabre), Ananya bagged 1st position, Chavi clinched 2nd and Harlin claimed 3rd spot, while in Fencing Under-14 boys (Sabre), Harshit bagged 1st position, the 2nd place was claimed by Aaryoveen and the 3rd spot was grabbed by Chonakeya and in Fencing Under-14 boys (Epee), Devang won 1st position, Samanvay clinched 2nd spot and the 3rd place was bagged by Sufiyan
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts of the Department of Youth Services & Sports.
