Inter-District kho-kho girls tourney gets underway

JAMMU, May 26: The Divisional Level Inter-District Girls Kho-Kho Tournament, under the age group of 14 and 17 years got underway at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
About 250 girls drawn from all ten districts of Jammu division are taking part in the tournament, which is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of SS Bali, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
Earlier, Jaipal Singh, Director Youth Services and Sports, J&K, declared the tournament open in an impressive and well attended function.
Speaking on the occasion, Jaipal Singh advised the participants to play with sportsman spirit and give their best and make it to the higher levels.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Reasi, Pushpa Sharma, Manorama Sharma, Jeet Singh, Sarita Pandha, Jaswant Singh, Rakesh Kakkar, Tilak Raj and Rajesh Sambyal.
Meanwhile, in kho-kho girls under-14, Jammu got better of Rajouri by 7 points, Udhampur trounced Samba by 2 points, Reasi outplayed Doda by 4 points, Poonch defeated Kishtwar by 5 points, Rajouri outclassed Ramban by 5 points, Poonch toppled Kathua by one innings and 6 points, Samba scripted a huge win over Kathua by one innings and 12 points, Jammu beat Doda by 5 points, Udhampur trounced Kishtwar by 6 points and Reasi drubbed Ramban by 8 points.
In kho-kho girls under-17, Kishtwar thrashed Poonch by one turn and 7 points, Jammu beat Rajouri by one turn and 3 points, Udhampur scripted a thrilling win over Samba by one point, Doda registered a narrow win over Reasi by one point, Kishtwar defeated Poonch by one turn and one point, Rajouri trounced Ramban by one turn and 4 points, Samba prevailed upon Kishtwar by one turn and 3 points, Jammu drubbed Doda by one turn and 4 points, Udhampur beat Kishtwar by one turn and 4 points and Reasi outclassed Ramban by one turn and one point.
It is pertinent to mention here that the tournament is a part of annual calendar of activities by the Department of Youth Services and Sports to select Jammu division team.
