POONCH, Oct 7: The Inter-District UT Level Hockey Tournament for Girls in the Under-17 category commenced today at the Synthetic Hockey Ground in Poonch, with Rupinder Kour, Principal BHSS Poonch, gracing the event as the chief guest. Six teams from across Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the tournament, with matches scheduled over two days.
In the opening match, Kathua triumphed over Kupwara with a 3-1 scoreline, thanks to two goals from Jeevika Verma and one from Lakshita, while Raziya Bilal scored for Kupwara. In the second match, Pulwama narrowly defeated Baramulla by 1-0, with Ulfat Firdose scoring the only goal.
The semi-finals saw Jammu defeating Kathua by 2-0, with Shivani scoring both goals, while Poonch dominated Pulwama with a 7-0 victory, powered by Akshara Dutta’s four goals and Haiqa’s three goals.
The event was successfully organized under the supervision of Mool Raj Utt, DYSSO Poonch, with officials and dignitaries ensuring smooth operations. Qualified referees officiated the matches, maintaining fairness throughout the competition.
