RAMBAN, Oct 15: Inter District Wrestling Championship, being organized by Army commenced at GHSS, here today.
Young budding wrestlers from seven districts of Jammu region including Ramban, Poonch, Kishtwar, Doda, Reasi and Rajouri will take on the challenge in this extravaganza.
The event started with a spectacular opening ceremony with large gathering of locals who witnessed closely contested match between the wrestlers. All the matches will be conducted as per the rules of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
The aim of the event is to promote the essence of physical fitness, encourage competitive spirit and inspire local people to contest in local traditional sport.
The final of Pir Panjal Inter District Championship will be played on October 20, in the presence of special guest 2012 Summer Olympic Medalist Padmashree winner Yogeshwar Dutt.
