KISHTWAR, Oct 4: The Inter-Division UT Level Tournament in Kho-Kho (U/17 & U/19) and Volleyball (U/14 Girls) commenced at GHSS Girls organized here today by the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar. The event is held under the direction of Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General of Youth Services & Sports J&K, and with the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan.
The opening ceremony featured the Deputy Commissioner, along with other dignitaries, who welcomed participants and expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making the tournament possible. In his address, Rajesh Kumar Shavan praised the dedication of the athletes and emphasized the role of sports in promoting unity and teamwork.
The celebration included a cultural performance by students from GHSS Girls Kishtwar, showcasing the region’s rich heritage. Jaffer Haider Sheikh, DYSSO Kishtwar, reiterated the department’s commitment to nurturing young talent, especially from rural areas.
Over the next few days, teams from two divisions will compete in various categories, highlighting Kishtwar’s growing reputation as a youth sports hub in Jammu & Kashmir.
