Inter-Division UT Level Taekwondo C’ship culminates

JAMMU, Oct 14: The Inter-Division UT Level Taekwondo competition for AAG girls, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, culminated at M.A. Stadium here today.
The competition brought together around 100 talented participants from across Jammu and Kashmir divisions, competing in various categories to showcase their skills and determination.
The tournament was facilitated by seasoned professionals including Atul Pangotra (PET), Rajinder Singh (PET), Mukta Gupta (PET), Barinder Singh (PET), Taruna Khajuria, Shivali Rajput, and other technical officials from the department.
During the event, the girls competed fiercely, with athletes from both divisions earning medals across various weight categories. Results of U-14 girls; Sadaf Zehra from Kashmir emerged victorious in her category, while Angel Dubey, Navya Thakur and Ruksana Kounser from Jammu bagged gold medals. Ridhima Sharma, Vanshika Bharti and Farzana Kounser added to Jammu’s success by winning top positions in the Under-17 categories. Kounin from Kashmir also claimed a title in her category, demonstrating the competitive spirit of the athletes.
In the U-19 category, Laviza Jan, Aaprajita Basin, Supriya Dogra, Radha Sharma and Gunjan Bhardwaj from Jammu continued their winning streak, with athletes like Sana Shauket and Alima from Kashmir standing out as well. Their performances were a testament to the growing talent in the sport from both regions.
The competition concluded with Harvinder Kour distributing medals and certificates among the winners, encouraging the participants to continue striving for excellence. Gold and silver medals were awarded to the first and second-place finishers, marking a significant achievement for these young athletes and a successful event for the UT.
