JAMMU, Jan 29: An Inter-House Spices and Nuts’ mela was held today in GD Goenka Public School.
The main motive of the event was to inculcate awareness among the students regarding the use of different spices and nuts as culinary items. The students of all the four houses participated with great enthusiasm in the event.
During the event, different spices and nuts were showcased by different houses and the importance of these spices and nuts were explained to the students.
The students were informed that apart from being used in the preparation of various cuisines across the world, these spices and nuts have medicinal values since ancient times and are also used in Ayurveda.
The medicinal importance of the various spices and nuts were also briefed to the students. Besides this, the students were also informed about the scientific names of various spices, their origin and export & import.
Teresa House was declared first, Vivekananda House was adjudged second while Tagore House and Radhakrishnan House shared third position.
The principal of the school, Dr RP Singh appreciated the efforts and keen participation of the students and the teachers in organizing the valuable and informative activity.
