JAMMU, Sept 2: Model Academy School hosted an Inter-School Debate Competition under the Jammu Sahodaya School Complex, focusing on the theme ‘Climate Change: Individual Responsibility vs Global Intervention.’ The event aimed to develop students’ abilities to consider multiple perspectives and enhance their public speaking skills. A total of 28 CBSE schools participated, showcasing their confidence, creativity, and rhetorical abilities.
Tina Mahajan, Deputy Director ICDS, served as the chief guest, while Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER, was the guest of honour. The jury comprised Dr. Shubra Jamwal, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary and Poonam Kundan, who evaluated the participants’ performances.
Mahajan praised the students for their innovative thinking and problem-solving skills, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering critical connections between ideas. The 56 debaters impressed with their ability to articulate well-reasoned arguments and engage in a lively rebuttal round.
Atharav Sharma from GD Goenka School won 1st prize, Daksh Bhardwaj from APS Sunjwan secured 2nd place, and Akshita Sharma from APS Samba took 3rd place. Consolation prizes were awarded to participants from Stephens International, Sainik School Nagrota and Sai International School.
