JAMMU, Aug 23: Inter-school English classical debate and extempore competition ‘Dr Aparna Oratory Odyssey-A dive into the dynamics of oratory skills’ at Stephens International Public School concluded here today.
The event was graced by Dilbag Singh, former DGP J&K who emphasized the significance of effective communication skills in shaping future leaders.
Chairman, Dr Kamal Saini, IGP (Retd); Director Satvinder Saini and Trustee, Kunal Saini accompanied by Principal, Dr Manjari Sehgal; Vice Principal, Shweta Bakshi; Headmistress, Khushboo Shaminotra; Coordinators, teachers as well as students were present on the occasion.
Judges for the competition were Dr Ritu Mangotra, HoD Govt College for Women Parade; Dr Monika Malhotra, HoD English, Govt Degree College Akhnoor; Karan Maini, Assistant Professor Govt Degree College Samba; Dr Jasleen Kour, Assistant Professor, University of Jammu; Geetanjali Multani, HoD English, Govt Degree College, Paloura and Zain Ul Abdeen Banday, HoD Political Science, Govt Degree College Bhaderwah.
About 20 reputed CBSE schools of the region participated in the event.
In debate, Air Force School’s Shuchi Gupta and Divita Mahajan clinched the top notch and received cash prize of Rs. 8000 and a trophy while second and third prizes were won by Samriti and Ishaan Pandey from Army Public School (APS) Samba and APS Akhnoor who were awarded Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3000 respectively along with trophies.
In Extempore, Aadwika Vashishth of APS Nagrota won first prize and was awarded cash award of Rs 3000 whereas Binwant Singh of International Daily Rising School and Harleen Kour of Carmel Convent stood second and third respectively winning Rs 2500 and Rs 2000.
An award of Rs 4500 was given to Pranvat Preet Kour who was adjudged the best speaker.
