JAMMU, Jan 11: Inter-school District level Athletics Meet under All Age Group for Girls, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports got underway at Government College for Women at Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The aim of the competitions is to select the best players for next level of tournament coming ahead. The matches were officiated by panel of experts of Department of Youth Services & Sports, district Jammu.
About 150 students of different schools participated in the event.
In 100 mtrs running under 14 years of Track event, Mansi Chib of GHS Satrian, Laxmi Devi of GGHS Khour and Bhumika Sharma of GMS Karyal Brahmana bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, whereas in 400 mtrs under 14, Gurdev Kour of SP Smart, Mansi Devi of GHS Maira Mandriam and Simran of New Public Brilliant succeeded to won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively and in 100 mtrs under-17, Ayushi of MHAC Nagbani bagged 1st position, whereas Simranjot of Jammu Sanskrit clinched 2nd and 3rd position was secured by Divya of GHS Pangrian.
In 400 mtrs under-17, Parveen (GHS Akalpur), Rimki (APS Sunjwan) and Riya (GGHS Bishnah) secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively, whereas in 3000 mtrs under-17, Laxami Kumari (GHS Kalu Chak), Chetna (Jammu Sanskrit) and Chaman Devi (GGHS Raipur) stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in 100 mtrs under-19, Sakshi (GHS Jindrah), Pragatee ( MHAC Nagbani) and Samikshi (GGHSS Canal Road) bagged first three places respectively.
In 400 mtrs under-19, Mamta Choudhary (GHSS Mubark Mandi), Pooja Devi (GHSS Kathar Manwal) and Sonia Choudhary (GGHSS RS Pura) secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, whereas in 3000 mtrs under-19, Shamshad Bano (GGHSS Satwari), Yuna (GHSS Kathar Manwal) and Veena Devi (GHSS Jindrah) stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In High jump under-14 of Field events, Pratha Chib (GGHS Satrian), Tania (GHSS Jindrah) and Chandani (GMS, Brij Nagar) succeeded to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively, whereas in High jump under-17, Pooja Devi (GHSS Bishnah), Sneha (GGHSS Shastri Nagar) and Anjali (GMS, Brij Nagar) clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and in High jump under-19, Manvi (GHS Satwari) and Ruchika (GHSS Bishnah) bagged 1st and 2nd positions respectively.
The championship was organised under the chairmanship of Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K and overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma DYSSO Jammu.
