JAMMU, Dec 17: The Inter School District Level Sports Fest for 9 to 14 years boys and girls in the disciplines of Tug of War, Kho-Kho, Cricket and Kabaddi at Government Boys High School Satwari Cantt concluded here.
The Cluster Manager of the Foundation informed that the performances in the competitions will serve as criteria for next selection of players at State level Sports Fest to be organized by Magic Bus in future.
Interacting with the players, chief guest of the event Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation said that games are vital for physical as well as mental fitness of individuals and students should take part in sports for the development of self-confidence and also for the development of mind and body. She further said winning and losing is part of the game but the participation of students which matters the most. Later, she wished them all the best during the competitions. Games also instill a positive and competitive spirit among the players, she remarked.
Addressing the gathering, guest of honour Tarun Uppal advocated for a healthy teacher-student relationship for the overall good of the society.
On the occasion, the importance of education and teachers was highlighted by the school heads in detail. Besides, cultural programmes on the theme of the event were presented by the students.
The Youth Mentors of Magic Bus India Foundation focused on the benefits of sports and motivated the youth to improve their skill, the ability to express themselves and their self-confidence.
The participating coaches namely Mousami Verma, Rekha Ratra, Dolly Gill, Jasdev Singh and Aryan Khandotra agreed to stay in touch with the students and prepare them for upcoming J&K level competitions.
In the end, vote of thanks was given by HM of Government Boys High School Veena Kumari.
