Inter school football tourney gets underway

SAMBA, Apr 26: Inter-School Football (Under-17) Tournament of Purmandal zone was declared open today in the premises of St Mary’s Convent High School, Smailpur, here today.
The tournament is organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the chairmanship of DYSSO Samba, Sunil Kumar and overall supervision of Zonal Education Planning Officer (ZEPO) Purmandal Harsh Kesh.
Principal, St Mary’s Convent High School, Smailpur, Sister Lucy was the chief guest on the opening ceremony, who after brief introduction with the players declared the tournament open.
Speaking on the occasion, Sister Lucy stressed upon the students to actively participate in the sports activities as it is good for their mental as well as physical growth.
The inaugural match was played between St Mary’s Convent High School Smailpur and Star Intellectual School, wherein, St Mary’s Convent High School registered win defeating the rival by 2-0.
Lecturer Physical Education, Ravi Kumar, Hardeep Singh, Bachan Lal, Arun Kumar and members of the organizing committee were present on the occasion. The matches were officiated by Sanjay Kotwal, Raju Sharma, Sahil Slathia and Vivek Slathia.
