Inter-School Judo Competition gets underway

JAMMU, May 19: District Level Inter-School Competitions in the disciplines of Judo Boys Under-14 and Under-17 got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
In all, 337 boys drawn from various Govt/Private Institutions of the district took part in the Competitions.
This is for the first time that large numbers of boys from Govt. Institutions are taking part in the Competitions.
The tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as a part of Annual calendar of Sports Activities under the supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu, who declared the Championship open in a simple and well attended function.
The matches were officiated by Varinder Sharma, Raman Sharma, Omkeshwar Sanyal, Kamal Singh and Taruna Khajuria.
In Under-14 boys, the gold medals in below 25, 30, 35, 40, 50 kg and above 50 kg went to Aditya Singh, Shivam Baloria, Munish Sharma, Romil, Rishav Slathia, Sahid Rashid and Amaan of GD Goenka, BSF Public School, RS Public School, KC International, Govt HS Rajpura Mangotrian, SOS HSS and KC International School respectively.
In Under-17 boys, the gold medals went to Pranav of Shangrilla Public School in below 40 kg, Shivam of SOS HSS in 45 kg, Aareen Kotwal of GD Goenka in 50 kg, Manik Baloria of BSF School in 55 kg, Ayush Pandita of GD Goenka in 60 kg, Azad of St Xavier School in 65 kg, Paramveer Singh of SOS HSS in 71 kg and Naman of KC International in above 71 kg.
