REASI, May 8: The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament of Reasi Zone for boys and girls Under-14 and Under-17 age categories in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling (Boys only) got underway at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium, here today.
Around 320 players of different Educational Institutions participated on the first day of the Tournament.
Bodh Raj, Zonal Education Officer, Reasi was the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony, while Om Parkash Sharma, Zonal Physical Education Officer Zone Reasi was the guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Principals of Amba Kids Home, Panthal and Dev Kids Public School Katra.
The Tournament is being organized as per the directions of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the supervision of Dr SS Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi.
The matches are being conducted by the panel of experts drawn from the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
In Kho-Kho Under-14 boys’ category, Amba Kids Home Panthal and Heritage Public School entered into the finals by defeating their competitive rivals by 7-5 and 7-6.
In Under-17 boys’ semifinal, HSS Panthal defeated HS Kambal Danga by 7-6 and confirmed their place in the finals. Now it will compete with HS Nomain in the finals tomorrow.
In Volleyball Under-14 boys category, HS Kambal Danga and Amba Kids Home Panthal sealed berth in the finals by defeating their rival teams in the semifinal.
In Volleyball Under-17 category, HS Kambal Danga entered into the finals by defeating HSS Boys Reasi by 2-1 and will compete against the winners of the second semifinal which will be played between HS Nomain and HS Kanjali.
In Kabaddi Under-14 boys, MS Shapanoo beat Heritage Public School by 22-17 and HS Gran defeated Trikuta Shikha Niketan by 25-16 before making their place into the finals.
In Wrestling Under-14 group, Wakar Ahmed (41kg) of Amba Kids Home, Sumit Sharma (45kg) of HS Gran and Rakesh Singh (49kg) of HS Gran were the winners, while in Under-17 age group, Kuldeep Singh (46kg) of HS Talwara, Ranjit Singh (54kg) of HS Kambal Danga, Parevez Mohd (58kg) of HS Kotli Bhagga were the winners.
Meanwhile, Inter School District Level Competitions of District Jammu in the disciplines of Softball, Basketball, Handball, Netball and Throw Ball Under-14 and Under-17 boys got underway at Different venues in Jammu.
In all 357 players drawn from Govt./Private Institutions of District Jammu are taking part in the competitions. The main objective of these competitions is to select the teams in these discipline for the Inter District Division Level Competitions.
The competitions are being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Jt. Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu.
In Basketball Under-14 boys, APS Ratnu Chak beat Doon International by 8-0; MHAC Nagbani defeated Jodhamal Public School by 8-3; St Francis SOS by 12-3; APS Sunjwan trounced Heritage School by 12-4; APS Kaluchak thrashed MIER by 15-4 and APS Jammu Cantt outplayed BSF Paloura by 1-0.
In Basketball Under-17 boys, APS Domana outclassed Heritage by 20-13; KC Gurukul beat BSF Paloura by 6-3; JP World crushed Doon International by 16-2; SOS drubbed Khuda Baksh by 10-0 and APS Ratnu Chak beat APS Miran Sahib by 16-0.
In Softball Under-14 boys’ final, MS Gardigarh outplayed HS Bhour Camp by 9-6, while in Softball Undr-17 boys final, HSS Paloura defeated MS Gardigarh by 4-3.
At Udhampur, a huge rush of budding cricketers was witnessed at Mini Stadium today during a one day long selection process of Under-14 and Under-17 cricketers organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer, Udhampur, Santosh Kumari.
As many as, 42 boys drawn from 13 different private as well as Government institutions of Zone Udhampur participated in the cricket trials.
The selected team will participate in the forthcoming Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournaments.

The 2-days tournament for the girls was divided into two categories of Under-14 and Under-17.
Over 400 girl students from Vijaypur Zone participated in the event that was organized under the supervision of Vijay Singh Slathia, Zonal Physical Educational Officer Vijaypur.
In the Under-14 Badminton singles, Govt Middle School Patti prevailed over Govt Middle School Dhamore, while in Badminton doubles, MV International School emerged as the winners. Kabaddi match was won by Govt. Higher Secondary School Raya from BBN High School by 18 points, while in Kho-Kho, BBN High School girls’ defeated Govt. Middle School Sangwal by 4 points.
In Volleyball Under-17 girls Fouji Public School, Patti emerged as winner, while in Badminton Under-17 girls, Bhargava Public School won by 2-0, whereas Badminton doubles event was won by Govt. High Secondary School, Vijaypur by 2-0.
In Kho-Kho (U-17 Girls) BBN School, Vijaypur gave tough competition and won from the girls of New Jagat Jyoti Sangwal.
The finals of Kabaddi Under-17 girls was held between BBN High School Vijaypur and Jyoti Public Higher Secondary School, Vijaypur, wherein girls of BBN School made the school emerged winners.
Sunil Kumar, District Sports Officer Samba, Gourav Abrol, Director MVIS, KL Dogra, Principal MVIS witnessed the finals of the events.
