JAMMU, May 3: The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling continued to lure good number of student players towards them to showcase sporting talent and vie for the top honours, here.
The Inter-School Zonal Level competition for girls in the sports disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball got underway at Govt High School Jammu Cantt, today.
In all, 265 girls drawn from 16 Govt / Private Institutions of Satwari Zone are taking part in the competitions.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General, Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Chanchal Kour, District Youth services and Sports Officer Jammu.
Poonam Kotwal, ZPEO Satwari is the Organizing Secretary of the tournament.
The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams of Jammu District for Inter District Division Level Competitions.
In Under-14 Girls Kho-Kho finals, GMMS Bhurechak beat St Peter HS, Karan Bagh by 12-8, while in Under-17 Girls Kho-Kho, Shiksha Niketan HS beat GGHS Sohanjana by 4-2, APS Jammu Cantt outplayed GHSS Mandal by 10-4 and GHS Old Satwari trounced St. Peter HS Karan Bagh by 8-5.
In Under-14 Girls Kabbadi finals, GMS Rakhbandu beat GMS Upper Gadi Garh by 12-6, while in Under-17 Girls Kabbadi, GGHS Sohanjana drubbed St. Peter Karan Bagh by 15-10, APS Jammu Cantt got the better of Shiksha Niketan HSS by 12-4, GHS Shergarh beat GHS Raipur Satwari by 15-12.
In Volleyball Under-17 Girls final, Shiksha Niketan HSS lost to its rival in the summit clash by 2-0 sets.
The matched were officiated by Hardev Singh, Saleem-ul-Rehman, Ravinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Amit Sharma, Gurpreet Singh, Rajeev Sharma, Harpreet Bhalla, Popinder Kour, Pushpinder Singh and Vishal.
The Inter-School Tournament in girls section of Gandhi Nagar Zone, being organized by ZPEO Gandhi Nagar, Anju Gupta, began today at Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nanak Nagar, here.
In Kabaddi Under-14 girls, Carmel Convent beat Doon International by 3 points, while in Kabaddi Under-17 girls, Carmel Convent drubbed HSS Surinsar by 5 points.
In Kho-Kho Under-14 girls, APS Sunjuwan and Govt HS Bain Bajalta emerged winners, while in Kho-Kho Under-17 girls, Govt HS Kaluchak and Govt HSS Shastri Nagar defeated Presentation Convent and Govt HSS Surinsar respectively.
The Inter-School Tournament of Marh Zone in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Wrestling Under-14 and Under-17 boys began at HSS Marh.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Veena Tickoo, ZPEO Marh.
In Volleyball Under-17 boys final, HSS Marh drubbed MRLD by 2-0 Sets, while in Under-14 finals, MRLD trounced MS Kana Chak by 2-0 Sets.
In Kho-Kho Under-17 boys, HS Burj Mandir outplayed HS Gajansoo by 21-3, while in Kho-Kho Under-14 finals, HS Shama Chak prevailed over HS Burj Mandir in a close contest by 9-8 and in Kabaddi Under-14 and Under-17 boys, MS Karloop and HSS Jhiri emerged winners.
The Wrestlers who emerged winners in different weight categories of Under-17 boys included Rahul Manhas of MRLD, Sahil Jagotra of HS Gajansoo, Vishal Kumar of MRLD, Vipin of Modern Public School, Rohit Bassan of MRLD and Sumit Singh of HS Burj Mandir, while the winners in Under-14 boys included Shahid Ali of MS Sohagani, Nitin of MRLD, Vinay Partap Singh of MS Dab Karam Din and Lovjit Kaith of Modern Public.
