JAMMU, May 2: District Level and Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments were held at various zones across Jammu division, today.
Two days Zonal Level Inter-School Competitions in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling for Boys in the age group of 14 and 17 years commences at Mahore and Arnas Zones of District Reasi in which about 300 students of different educational institutions are participating.
In Zone Arnas the tournament was declared open by Krishan Singh, Headmaster Govt High School Chinkah, who was the chief guest on the occasion. While addressing the players, the chief guest appealed the students to take part in more and more sports activities so that they will remain physically fit to adjust in every corner of modern lifestyle. He also appreciated the efforts of the department of youth services and sports for organizing regular sports activities in this hilly Zone of Reasi District. Others present in the opening ceremony includes Lecturer Gurvinder Singh, Master Shiv Dutt Sharma, Kaka Ram, Chinta Devi, Neelam Devi, Kuldeep Singh, krishan Singh and number of local people. While in Zone Mahore, Mukhtiar Ahmed, Principal Higher Secondary School Mahore was the Chief Guest and Manohar lal ZPEO Chassana and Om Parkash, ZPEO Reasi, Abdul Rashid Shiekh, Mohd Akabar were also present on the occasion.
In Zone Mahore, the Final Match in under 14 kabaddi was won by Pir Panchal School by defeating Mountaineering Convent School by 18-15.
The matches were officiated by the technical team comprising Pardeep Nag, Ashok Kumar, Tour Kumar, Pushkar Raj, Romesh Chander, Anil Singh, , Des Raj, Kuldeep Raj, Surinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Harjeet Singh, Vijay Singh Manhas etc.
The Inter-School TournamentOF Babay zone in the age groups of Under-14 and Under-17 boys in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Volleyball AND Kabaddi concluded at Govt HSS Khoon and Scholar Home Model Public School Khoon. Principal HSS Khoon, Dharampal Sharma was the chief guest, while the Tournament was held under the supervision of ZPEO Khoon, Suresh Kumar and Physical Education Lecturer, Vijay Sharma.
In Under-14 Volleyball final, MS Sandoo defeatred MS Khoon, while in Under-17 Volleyball final, HSS Khoon got better of HS Sundla. In Kabaddi Under-17 boys final, HSS Khoon defeated HS Sundla, while in Kabaddi Under-14 boys final, Bhagwati Public School, Raipur defeated MS Sandoo.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports District Samba organized Inter School Zonal Level Cricket Tournament at Samba Stadium.
In Under-17 boys cricket semifinal, APS Samba defeated HS Sarna by 16 runs, while in another semifinal, AVP Samba got better of Lord Krishna High School Samba by a narrow margin of 2 runs.
In the final, AVP Samba defeated APS Samba by 9 runs. Rishant Singh of AVP Hr Sec School Samba was adjudged as man of the match.
Inter School District level competition in the sports discipline of Basketball and Handball Boys Under-14 and Under-17 got underway here at M.A Stadium Jammu and Dogra Ground Shastri Nagar.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Sukh Dev Raj Sharma District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jammu in a simple and well attended function at MA Stadium Jammu
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports as a part of annual calendar of sports activities for the year 2016-17 under the chairmanship of Madan Lal Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jammu.
In Basketball U-14 Boys, Heritage Public School beat KC International by (5-2), MHAC Nagbani defeated APS Kalu Chak by (8-4), St. francis outplayed St. Peter Karan Bagh by (7-3), APS Sunjwan prevaild over APS Nagrota by (10-4), while in Basketball U-17 Boys, APS Nagrota thrashed SOS by (9-0), JP World beat St. Peter Karan Bagh by (21-02), Heritage P. School beat Model Academy by (22-03).
In Handball U-17 Boys, Stephons International Public School beat St. Peter HSS Karan Bagh by (4-3), APS Miran Sahib trounced Tagore memorial PS by (6-2), Rainbow Public School beat Stephon International by (6-0) and St Peter beat APS M/S by (6-2)
The matches were officiated by Ajay Kumar, Gourav Sharma, Sanjay Jamwal and Mokshi Bali.
