JAMMU, May 15: The fervor of sportsmanship reached its zenith as the curtains fell on the exhilarating five-day Inter-School Zonal Level Sports competition, hosted at the Indoor Stadium, Akhnoor.
Organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports Zone Akhnoor, the event featured a medley of sports including Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Chess, Weightlifting, Badminton and Wrestling, catering to the talents of Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls.
The event drew participation from approximately 1800 student players hailing from both Government and private institutions across Akhnoor Zone, showcasing the rich reservoir of sporting talent present in the region.
In a momentous closing ceremony, Principle GBHSS, Akhnoor Musarat Jabeen graced the occasion as the chief guest, inspiring young athletes with her words of wisdom. Emphasizing the importance of teamwork, cooperation and coordination, she highlighted how these values imbibed through sports resonate in various spheres of life, be it academics or future career pursuits.
Ashok Kumar (I/C ZPEO Akhnoor), extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the participating teams for their exemplary display of sportsmanship throughout the competition. He also lauded the dedication and commitment of the organizing committee, particularly acknowledging the technical committee for their meticulous planning and execution.
The event not only served as a platform for young athletes to showcase their prowess but also fostered camaraderie and mutual respect among participants, embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship.
