Inter-state narco smugglers held with poppy straw

RAMBAN, Sept 13: Chanderkote police arrested two inter-state narcotic smugglers along with poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Chanderkote police station laid a naka and signaled a Santro car bearing registration number PB10BA-6972.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance.
During checking, police team recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested two persons on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Shubam Singh, son of Gulzar Singh and Jasbir Singh, son of Darshan Singh, both residents of Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
They were trying to smuggle the consignment of narcotics from Srinagar to Punjab, but their nefarious designs were thwarted by the Chanderkote police.
A case under FIR Number 69/15 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Chanderkote police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Chanderkote police station Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
