JAMMU, Oct 29: With an aim to bring in communal harmony and to inculcate sportsman spirit amongst the youth of Reasi District, the Indian Army organized an Inter Village Wrestling Championship at Village Gagrote.
The event proved to be another step in augmenting the Army’s efforts to promote positive youth development through sports and there-by providing a platform to showcase the talent of local populace especially the youth.
The championship was conducted on knock out basis with 75 wrestlers from various villages participating under various weight categories. The atmosphere during the competition was electrifying, with supporters from all the villages, cheering with zeal and vigor. Attractive prizes were awarded to the winners in all categories apart from prizes for the Best Competitor.
All the participating members, who were immensely talented, displayed excellent sportsman spirit and fair play during the conduct of the championship.
Sarpanch and elders of Gagrote village expressed their gratitude towards the Army in its endeavors to motivate the youth of the region towards taking up sports and usher-in bonhomie.
