UDHAMPUR, May 16: The District Level Inter-Zonal Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls Athletic Meet, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports got underway at Subash Stadium, here today.
96 girls drawn from nine zones of district Udhampur participated in the event, which was declared open by Sukhdev Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur.
In Under-14 girls, Neha Puri of Tikri zone claimed gold in high jump, while Nitasha Gupta of Ramnagar, Shriya Sharma of Udhampur and Shriya Sharma of Udhampur bagged gold in long jump, shot put and discus throw respectively, while in Under-17 girls, high jump gold went to Parveen Bano of Udhampur, long jump gold to Preeti Devi of Ramnagar and shot put to Sindhiya of Tikri.
The javelin gold in Under-17 girls went to Sonali of Tikri, while 100 meter sprint gold was claimed by Parveen Bano. Seema and Mahavish of Udhampur, both of Udhampur zone bagged gold in 200 meters and 400 meters respectively.
