International conference on ‘Achieving Sustainable Competitive Advantage’ concludes in JU

Jammu, Dec 17: The three-day international conference on the theme ‘Achieving Sustainable Competitive Advantage in Global Business Era’ organised by P.G. Department of Commerce (SAP-DRS III), concluded today with valedictory at University of Jammu.
Dr. Haseeb A. Drabu, Minister for Finance, Culture and Labour and Employment was the chief guest on the occasion. He emphasised on globalisation and competitive advantage and viewed that globalisation is based upon the quality standard, global standards and global regulatory environment even in domestic set up.  Further, he added that building competencies involves setting standards about the product and process. He stressed on moving from manufacturing economy to knowledge economy and discussed huge revolution that has come in the financial sector through the concept of globalisation.
In his presidential remarks Prof. R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JU stressed on the role and challenges of sustainability and competitive advantage in global era. He was of the opinion that business enterprises play key role in evading poverty, generating employment and surpluses for the economy. He further talked about smart cities, financial inclusion, Jan Dhan, thermal energy, corporate social responsibility, ecology, and environment etc. and how these things contribute to sustainable competitive advantage. He then talked about the three dimensional model (social, economic and environmental dimensions) for global sustainability. In end he said that good policies and practices should be adopted by the enterprises for sustaining competitive advantage.
While giving conference remarks Prof. Keshav Sharma, Registrar and Dean Faculty of Business Studies,  JU congratulated the organisers for organising the international conference on the theme of sustainable competitive advantage in global business era.
Earlier the welcome address was delivered by Prof. Hardeep Chahal (HoD, Conference Chair and Deputy SAP Coordinator) while Dr. Jeevan Jyoti (Conference Co-Chair) presented Conference Report. This conference comprised of three plenary sessions, nine technical sessions and workshop on Qualitative Data Analysis with ATLAS-ti. More than hundred eminent researchers and much-admired academicians belonging to various departments of universities and institutions across India and abroad were present in the conference.
