Katra, Dec 18: Intern-ational Conference on “Challenges in Inclusiveness of the Fourth World” concluded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, here today.
More than 80 delegates from all over the world participated in the sessions being held at four different locations. Prof. Bhim Singh Dahiya, former Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University delivered the key note address.
Among the prominent representative resource persons who participated in the parallel sessions were Prof. Jay Hansford C. Vest from University of North Carolna at Pembroke, USA, Prof. Radha Nambiar from University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Prof. Chandra Mohan from University of Delhi, Prof. Nandini Bhattacharya, Prof. Ratan Bhattacharya from West Benagal, Prof. Indira from Andra Pradesh and others. Noted Sahitya Akademy Dogri writers who deliberated over the Tribal/ Dalit consciousness in Dogri Literature were Dr. Deshbandu Dogra and Dr. Chanchal Bhasin.
A scintillating cultural show of Music and Dance of Dogra Heritage and Tradition was presented by Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in the auditorium in the evening. In addition, a session on Shakespeare in Urdu was conducted by Prof. K.K. Rishi from University of Kurukshertra.
Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu was the chief guest in the Valdedicatory Session and Prof. Sudir K. Jain presided over the function.
Prof. Chandra Mohan from University of Delhi delivered the valedictory address on “Essentialising ” The History of the Fourth World (Aboriginal) in the Mainstream of a Nation : Challenges in Inclusiveness” . Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Prof. R.D. Sharma congratulated the organizers and highlighted how Fourth World as a universal entity holds a problematic area and needed to be debated and deliberated.
Dr. Anurag Kumar delivered the vote of thanks and Isha Malhotra gave a report of the proceedings.
The conference was inaugurated yesterday by the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar.
