JAMMU, Sept 21: The Department of Political Science, Govt.MAM College Jammu organized one- day seminar to commemorate the International Day of Peace, here today.
The resource person was Prof Ashiq Malik, an eminent scholar and a peace activist. The theme for the lecture was “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety, and Dignity for all”supplemented with a documentary.
In his address, he said that International day of Peace will focus on engaging and mobilizing people across the globe, finding support for Humanity, Truth and Non Violence. Further he deliberated upon the role of the students in developing a peaceful world order. Presentations were made by the student participants as well.
Prof Dr Ajeet Angral, Principal chaired the session and addressed the students and emphasized on the fact that peace is a way of life and the world already on the brink of nuclear holocaust can be saved only with increased emphasis on education.
The Little Millennium Pre Schools, a premier chain of Pre Schools promoted by M/S Educomp Childcare while continuing its focus and thrust on holistic development of children celebrated The International Day of Peace in its Roopnagar and Gandhi Nagar centres. A special assembly was held to sensitize the little pre schoolers about the theme of World Peace Day for 2017 which is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”
Department of Political Science, GDC Mendhar organised the World Peace Day in collaboration with 37 RR in GDC Mendhar. Principal of the College, Prof Shabir Hussain Shah presided over the function while Captain KK Singh of 37 RR was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof Murtaza Ahmed HoD, Political Science delivered an extension lecture regarding “Word Peace day”.
International Peace Day was celebrated in DPS Jammu with enthusiasm and spirit today.
A special assembly and a peace rally were organized on this occasion. The assembly was started with a special prayer followed by the school choir presenting a peace song in their melodious voice giving the message of peace.
Students presented their views on the importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the society and laid stress on how each one of us can play an important role in achieving it.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra and Headmistress, Meenu Gupta spoke on the importance of the day.
