JAMMU, Nov 8: PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged upon the Union Government to restore internet services in the Jammu and Kashmir as it has badly affected the tourism and  Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.
A meeting of Executive Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry was held here today wherein, besides felicitating the outgoing Chairman of PHDCCI Vikrant Kuthiala and remembering its first Chairman Late Ram Sahai, it was unanimously decided that authorities be urged upon to restore the Internet services in peaceful areas of Jammu Region particularly the route of Vaishno Devi Yatra right from Lakhanpur to Vaishno Devi ji which comes while travelling through road or train and particularly Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur districts immediately because these areas are altogether peaceful.
Rakesh Wazir, chairman of the PHDCCI while speaking on the occasion said that the route of Vaishno Devi right from Lakhanpur to Mata Vaishno Devi was always peaceful and not even single incident of militancy or even otherwise ever happened over here and in those conditions the ban on pretext of militancy or revoking of 370 is really surprising and be removed immediately because total economy of state is on Vaishno Devi pilgrims and these type of steps will reduce it further which  have already come down by more than 20 lakh in comparison to 2012. He further said that this ban is effecting the information technology sector too in a big way and giving big dent to employment.
