JAMMU, Feb 21: On the second day of the ongoing National School of Drama’s prestigious International Theatre Festival Bharat Rang Mahotsav, which is being organized here in collaboration with the University of Jammu, a spectacular performance of the ‘Silence’, a non verbal play was witnessed on Tuesday.
The play was creatively directed by Soma Giri from Baguiati Nrityamandir, Kolkata, West Bengal. She was felicitated alongwith her team by Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor JU; Prof Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu and Santanu Bose, Senior Faculty from National School of Drama.
The play `Silence’ reveals instances, emotions, and affections of our turmoil life. The relevance of the story begins with the absence of the students in the dance teacher’s life because several circumstances of the life of those students who cannot express their frustration, anger, desire, fear, had come out in this story.
In this lockdown, the director of the play found herself differently in loneliness. Being a teacher, she felt that a teacher has no existence without a student. At the same time also the latent feelings of the subconscious mind suddenly came out. Those are the private feelings of every woman.
The festival is being monitored by Prof Ramesh Chandra Gaur, Director National School of Drama. Dr Suman Vaidya (Festival Director), Dr Santanu Bose (Centre Incharge, J&K), Prof Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare and Mushtaq Kak, Festival Incharge.
On 22nd of February, Satyabhan Savitri (Nautanki-Hindi), directed by Umesh Chandra Sharma from Shri Shri Narhari Sewa Sansthan, Mathura (UP) will be staged at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu at 6 pm.
