Introduce latest technology for boosting crop cultivation: Altaf

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: One-day Awareness-cum-Kissan Mela was organized by the J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissan at Madr-i-Meharban Stadium, Ganderbal which was presided over by Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, Mian Altaf. Minister of State for Agriculture, Horticulture and Floriculture, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi was the guest of honour and (MoS) Vice Chairman, Kissan Advisory Board, Radhay Sham Sharma  hosted the camp.
The event was organized under Information, Education and Communication (IEC) scheme where the farmers were introduced to the new and innovative methods of agriculture production. New agriculture machinery tools were also introduced to the farmers and they were advised to avoid old and obsolete methods of farming and instead use the new methods and hybrid technology by which more production can be ensured.
Addressing the gathering, Mian Altaf advised the farming community to take maximum benefits of the various farmer friendly schemes launched by the State and Central Governments and use the latest agriculture technologies for boosting their crop production including cash crop. The Minister emphasised on necessity of introducing the latest technology in all productive sector like agriculture, horticulture and sericulture with the view to increase the socio economic conditions of the farming community. He said this is the only key source to ensure economic growth of the state in general and farming community in particular.
Minister of State for Agriculture dwelt upon the purpose of creating of Kissan Development Board which is wholly and solely working for the development and upliftment of the farmers of the State and people should get their grievances redressed there. He appealed the people to come forward and take benefits of the schemes launched by the government under agriculture and other allied sectors.
Earlier, Minister of State and Vice Chairman Kissan Advisory Board, Radhay Sham Sharma said that State Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has given the farmers of the State a platform where they can come and discuss their problems and suggested measures to overcome their difficulties. Every farmer desires to become self-reliant in their agriculture produce by adopting new and innovative technology which has been developed in the agriculture sector. He stated that he has created grievance cell in the Board and any farmer can come and register his grievance there and see that his grievance is redressed in a minimum period of time.
The gathering was also addressed by DDC Ganderbal Sarmed Hafiz Kissan Advisory Board Members including Mohammad Sultan Shaheen, Progressive Farmers, Sarpanchs, Panchs, besides the Secretary of the Board G. N. Mir and Chief Agriculture Officer, Ganderbal Sajad Ahmed.
