Involvement of private sector in tourism imperative: CS

DODA, Apr 28: Chief Secretary Mohd Iqbal Khanday accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pardeep Gupta today visited District Headquarter and convened a meeting of District and Sectoral officers to review the performance made by various departments under Annual District Plan 2012-13 and other flagship programmes besides Centrally sponsored schemes.
District Development Commissioner Doda Mubarak Singh made a power point presentation on the occasion and apprised that under Annual District Plan 2012-13 against an approved outlay of Rs. 8388.21 lakh which was later revised to Rs. 7811.01 lakh an expenditure of Rs. 7774.11 lakh was incurred which works out to 99.53 percent.
While reviewing the physical achievements of PHE Department in the District, it was revealed that against an approved target of 23 habitations which were targeted for providing water supply 20 habitations have been provided water supply during the year 2012-13.
In Employment Sector it was revealed that 250 persons were targeted for providing benefit under JKSES for transport and services against which 200 cases were sponsored and 135 sanctioned. While as under JKSES for Business and Industries 550 persons were the target against which 672 were sponsored out of which 333 were sanctioned. Besides achievements of PWD (R&B), Health, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture Departments were also reviewed.
While reviewing the Major Centrally sponsored flagship programmes in the District it was revealed that under MGNREGA an expenditure of Rs. 5770.159 lacs has been made ending March 2013. Under IAY it was revealed that 393 number of houses were targeted for construction / upgradation against which 197 houses have been upgraded/ constructed besides work on 196 houses is going on. Besides other Major schemes were also reviewed including NRHM, BRGF, TSC, RGGVY, SSA, ICDS, PMGSY etc.
During the meeting various ongoing infrastructure developmental projects were also reviewed which include 20.5 Km Doda – Bharath road, Changa – Kaljugassar road, Gandoh Jai road, Bhatyas – Mannu road, construction of Court Complex Doda, Steel Girder Shiva Dal Bridge and Doda – Dessa WSS.
Later, Mr Khanday met with the various deputations and gave patient hearing. He assured them of early redressal of their genuine grievances.
Earlier, Chief Secretary convened a meeting of officers in Bhaderwah and said that involvement of private parties is important for the growth and development of tourism sector in the region . He said the real test of Tourism Department is the success they get after involvement of private sector in the tourism industry especially unemployed youth who can establish their own income generating units like Hotels, Restaurants, Guest Houses etc which help to uplift the socio-economic condition of people.

Mubarak Singh, Director Health Services Dr. Madhu Khullar, Director School Education G.A Qureshi, Chief Engineer R&B. Tehsin Mustafa, Chief Engineer PDD Shehnaz Goni, DIG Doda – Kishtwar Range. Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, Additional District Development Commissioner Doda. G.N Balwan, Chief Planning Officer Doda Dr. Yassir Balwan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Anil Koul, Assistant Commissioner Development Doda. Rakesh Kumar, besides other District and Tehsil / Block Level officers were also present.
Khanday also met various deputations in Bhaderwah and redressed the grievances of people on the occasion. He directed Director Health Services to ensure posting of Gynecologist in the SDH Bhaderwah.
