SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Institute of Technology Zakura Campus and Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES) today lifted the winning trophies of the Inter-department Hockey tournament at University of Kashmir.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan chaired the medals-cum-prize distribution ceremony.
A total of 20 teams had participated in the tournament in men’s and women’s categories. The winning title in the men’s category was lifted by IOT Zakura, while the DPES, which had organised the tournament, lifted the winning title in the women’s category.
Interacting with the student participants, Prof Nilofer hoped that more girl students will come forward to participate in sports activities and bring laurels at the national level.
She said the DPES is actively organising sports events involving students from across campuses and colleges which is an encouraging sign.
”You have to just participate. We assure to provide you the best possible facilities for your training and participation,” she said to the participating students.
Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir and Director IOT Zakura Campus were also present on the occasion, while Coordinator DPES Dr Mussavir Ahmad delivered the welcome address and gave a brief account of the tournament.
Officials and coaches of DPES also attended the closing ceremony.
