India will be hosting England for 4 Tests, 5 T20Is, and 3 ODIs from 5th Feb to 28th March. Hence, a start date of 11th April for the IPL 2021 season will give enough time for Indian players to recover and give their best in the T20 league.

The list of all the retained and released players by each IPL franchise has already been released. Some of the big names released by teams include Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Kedar Jadhav, Dale Steyn, Aaron Finch, James Neesham and Tom Banton.

RR and MI selection trials

Some of the exciting news from team trials has been Mumbai Indians inviting a 16-year old leg-spinner from Nagaland and Rajasthan Royals calling up two J&K pacers. KhrievitsoKense, the 16-year old leg-spinner from Nagaland picked 7 wickets in 4 matches averaging 12.00 during his debut in the recent edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He could be the first ever North East player to feature in the Indian Premier League if he manages to ace the MI trials.

Auqib Nabi and Mujtaba Yousuf will be joining RR for team selection trials ahead of IPL 14. In addition to Abdul Samad who featured in the last IPL season, only two other cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir have played in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals will enter the mini-auction with the 3rd highest purse among the franchises that amounts to ₹34.85 Crore.
