JAMMU, Nov 22: With an objective of promoting local cultural ethos and poetry based on different languages, Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) today organised a multilingual Mushaira at KL Saigal Hall here today.
The poets hailing from different parts of the society recited their original pieces of work based on the theme of freedom, patriotism, social justice, tolerance, women empowerment, peace and freedom of expression.
The Mushaira was presided over by convener of Dogri Sahitya Akademi, Delhi Prof Lalit Mangotra. President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Dr Monojeet, State president, All India Kissan Sabha Jammu Dr GS Charak, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, general secretary, IPTA Sanjay Gupta and famous Urdu poet Pt Vidyaratan Aasi were among the dignitaries present in the Mushaira.
President IPTA, Hardeep Singh Deep informed that the Mushaira has been organized to mark the 75 years of foundation of the organization and different programmes are being organized by the Association across the country. The IPTA was formed in 1943 and we are moving with an aim of bringing cultural awakening among the people, he added.
The packed audience especially the younger generation, was mesmerized by the Urdu poetry of Dr Liyaqat Jafri, Anwar Khan, Rajan Singh and Mohan Singh Ulfat. Roshan Baral, Raj Manarvi, Susheel Begana and Deepak Aarsi presented their pieces of writing in Dogri.
Those who recited their latest poetry in Punjabi included Dr Baljeet Raina, Ajit Singh Mastana, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, Swami Anter Neerav, Bachan Barti, Suraj Rattan and Amar Singh. Kamaljeet Choudhary, Mohammad Kalyan, Yogita Yadav, Prof Ashok Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Maharaj Santoshi and Prof Chanchal Dogra presented their poetry in Hindi.
