KATHUA, Jan 14: The irate residents of Chak Nathal falling under the jurisdiction of Rajbagh Police Station blocked the Sanji Morh-Chadwal border road today in protest against the death of a seven year girl who was crushed by a speedy matador in the area yesterday evening.
The protestors took to streets and blocked the road for one hour this afternoon and raised slogans against the Traffic Police and administration for their failure in maintaining a check on high speed and drivers plying the vehicles without license.
The protestors including men women and children said that the Traffic Police was responsible for such accidents as it has given a free hand to the drivers plying vehicles on high speed and without valid papers and licenses.
They said that it has become a routine practice that the drivers after the accident fled from the spot and later neither they nor their vehicles are traced.
They demanded immediate arrest of the driver of the matador and action under law against him. The road blockade was lifted after the intervention of SDPO Border Divakar Singh who assured the people that he will take up the issue with Traffic Police authorities and also assured the immediate arrest of the driver and action against him under law.
