KATHUA, Apr 27: The irate people today ghearoed the PHE officers at two separate places in protest against the erratic water supply.
As per reports the irate people blocked the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway at Mela Morh near Dayala Chak to protest against the water scarcity. Another protest was held by irate people at Mangalore who blocked the Ramkote road for the entire day in protest against the water scarcity.
The people raising the slogans against the PHE authorities geared the X-En PHE Mechanical Division at Mangalore for the day when he came to the spot to appeal the people to remove the road blockade. The protestors at Mela Morh also ghearoed the AEE Mechanical for the entire day when he tried to approach and pacify the agitating people there.
The ghearo of the two officers was only lifted at 4 pm after the two motors reached at two different places for installation to resume the water supply. The protestors said that they have no water supply for last 20 days and the authorities had failed to listen to their problems and take quick action in restoring water supply.
The people also demanded action against the erring PHE officers under Public Service Guarantee Act and registration of cases against them. The demand was made by them in front of visiting SDM and Tehsildar or the area.
The protestors said that 45 pumping stations are break down in Kathua district due to which people were facing acute water scarcity.
