KATHUA, Mar 29: Hundreds of irate students blocked the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway here this evening protesting against the J&K State Board of School Education authorities decision to cancel the examination of Chemistry Paper of class 12th for five centres of Kathua due to paper leakage and holding of fresh examinations at these centers.
The protestors raising slogans against the Board decision marched towards the National Highway and blocked it for three hours this evening from 6 pm to 9 pm. They were demanding either re-examination be held at all these centers or their paper may not be cancelled. The protestors, while criticizing the administration and police said that the paper was held on March 10 and it was reported that the same was leaked one day earlier as some Photostat copies were seen with the students on March 9. But why police failed to act till date and why did not it file an FIR against the culprits responsible for paper leakage and arrested them.
Moreover why the Board authorities also remained tight lipped till date and why did not they order the cancellation of the paper on very next day and holding of re-examination, they asked?
The protesters alleged that the action of Board amounted to demoralize the students of five centers only while it was soft towards the actual culprits.
The students warned to intensify agitation in case their demand was not accepted.
Earlier the irate students also held a demonstration in the town and when they met the higher ups in administration they refused to concede the demand with the result they blocked the National Highway.
