JAMMU, Feb 22: Skipper Ishan Kishan scored a power-packed century as strong Jharkhand defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 9 wickets in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament at Chukapalli Pitchaiah Cricket Ground, Mulapadu in Vijayawada today.
Earlier, put into bat, Jammu and Kashmir scored a fighting total of 168 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Opening batsman Jatin Wadhawan top scored with 47 runs off 37 balls, studded with 4 fours and 2 sixes, while explosive Manzoor Dar contributed quick-fire 39 runs off 22 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. Shubham Khajuria, skipper Parvez Rasool and Irfan Pathan contributed 31, 24 and 12 runs to the total respectively. All the batsmen were in fabulous touch and played the shots with authority, grace and fluidity.
From Jharkhand, Rahul Shukla was the pick of the bowlers, who took 5 important wickets by conceding 36 runs in his 4 overs, while Monu bagged 2 wickets and Shahbaz Nadeem claimed one.
In reply, Jharkhand chased the target easily in 16.4 overs, scoring 170 runs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Ishan Kishan played a brilliant innings of unbeaten 100 runs off just 55 balls, studded with 8 fours and 7 sixes, while Anand Singh contributed valuable 48 runs off 34 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Virat Singh also contributed 15 runs to the total. Umar Nazir was the only successful bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, who took the wicket of Anand Singh.
With this victory, Jharkhand earned 4 points, while J&K failed to secure any point.
Jammu and Kashmir will take on Delhi in their next match at the same venue on February 24, 2019.
