Ishan, Wattal duo guides RCC Srinagar to finals of Kashyap T20

JAMMU, Mar 15: Ishan slammed a thunderous century and shared a magnificent opening partnership of 150 runs with classical Puneet Wattal, who scored a splendid half-century to help Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) thrash Yankees Cricket Club by a huge margin of 127 runs and enter the finals of the ongoing 2nd Kashyap Reshi T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Saffron Cricket Club at KC Sports Academy ground, here.
Now, in the summit clash to be held on April 13, 2014, RCC Srinagar will lock horns with WCC, which got better of Koushur Cricket Club by 5 wickets in a low scoring game.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, RCC Srinagar scored a mammoth total of 254 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Ishan scored power-packed 105 runs off just 42 balls, studded with 11 fours and 7 sixes, while Puneet Wattal contributed handsome 62 runs off 42 balls with the help of 9 delectable boundaries and one six. In form batsman, Rahul Mussa also scored 20-ball 44 runs, studded with 3 fours and 4 sixes, while explosive Puneet Kumar contributed unbeaten 36 runs off just 15 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes. For Yankees Club, Akash and Abhishek claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Yankees Club bundled out for 127 runs in 17 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 127 runs. Vishal, Manish and Abhishek contributed 33, 31 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For RCC Srinagar, Rahul Mussa, Kuldeep Kumar and Monu bagged 2 wickets each, while Ajay Sharma, Ishan and Mukul claimed one wicket apiece. Ishan was adjudged man of the match for his extraordinary innings.
In another semifinal, WCC defeated Koushur Cricket Club (KCC) by 5 wickets to make way for the finals. Batting first, KCC scored 100 runs in 17.3 overs. Akash, Raju and Sahil contributed 24, 18 and 12 runs to the total. For WCC, Shanker and Vishal took 2 wickets each.
WCC, in reply scored the required runs in 15. 1 overs by losing 5 wickets to win the match by 5 wickets. Shanker top scored with 38 run. Sahi and Rahul took 2 and one wicket for KCC respectively. Shanker was declared man of the match.
The match was officiated by Rahul and Sachin as umpires, while Puran was the scorer.
