Issues of Anganwadi Workers raised in one day conference

JAMMU, Dec 8: Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association here today organised a one day conference in which hundreds of workers participated.
Addressing Anganwadi Workers, Association vice president and State general secretary, Neelam Sharma claimed that J&K Government was ignoring genuine demands of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.
“Rs 5100 per month is paid to Anganwadi Worker and Rs. 2550 to Helpers and the State government has not revised its share in this regard from 2010 while the neighbouring States are paying more than Rs. 8000 to 10000 as State share,” she further said demanded that J&K Chief Minister should hike State share by Rs 5000.
Summer and winter vacations for Anganwadi Workers were also demanded along with the post of Supervisor by promoting Anganwadi Workers according to their seniority.
Association further demanded retirement policy and monetary compensation at the time of retirement of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers like Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal and Maharashtra.
Ashok Choudhary, State Sangathan Mantri BMS also spoke on the occasion.
On this occasion election of the Association was also held in which Roshu Sharma was elected as president; Shobha Sharma, general secretary; Neena Devi and Rekha Devi, vice presidents; Sneh Lalta, Pusha Devi and Goonu Devi, secretaries and Rajni Jamwal, cashier; Babli Devi, Bandana Jamwal, Rekha Rani, Neelam Choudhary, Urimila Devi, as executive members.
