J&K remains medal-less; Kerala clinches overall trophy

JAMMU, Jan 10: Despite regular training and guidance, the Jammu and Kashmir power lifting players failed to prove their credentials in the National Power Lifting Championship, which concluded at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar here today.
The J&K could not even clinch a single medal in any of the category in the Championship, which raised a question mark on their potential of performing on national and international levels.
However, the power lifters of Kerala exhibited a fantastic show and clinched overall trophy of this five day long Championship, followed by Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra at number 2 and 3 respectively.
Result of Best Lifters in Equipped category:
In Junior Men, P Vijay of Tamil Nadu, V Vignesh Kumar of Tamil Nadu and TJ Varghese Ronald of Kerala clinched first, second and third positions respectively.
In Junior Women, Bijlee Bag of Chandigarh, P Viji of Tamil Nadu and Sumi George of Kerala secured top three ranks.
In Men Master-I, EC Rajan of Kerala bagged top rank, whereas in Men Master-II, Arumugham T of Kerala claimed number 1 rank. In Men Master-III, K Prakash Karanth of Karnataka emerged winner, whereas in Men Master-IV, Debabrate Chatterje of West Bengal secured first position.
Result of Team Championship in Equipped category:
In Men Master-I, Kerala remained at number 1 with 54 points, whereas Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra secured second and third positions by securing 52 and 42 points respectively.
In Master-II, Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh secured first, second and third positions respectively by securing 51, 48 and 30 points respectively.
In Master-III, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra claimed top three ranks by securing 41, 30 and 24 points respectively.
In Junior Men, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand secured first three positions by securing 50, 47 and 36 points respectively.
In Junior Women, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra secured first, second and third positions by securing 54, 51 and 37 points respectively.
