JAMMU, Oct 22: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association State team excelled in 33rd Junior National Taekwondo Kyorugi / Poomsae Championship, winning 6 medals with 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals at Puducherry, recently.
The Championship was organized by Taekwondo Federation of India and J&K team won the trophy for second consecutive time in Junior Nationals.
The team was welcomed by the Minister of State for Sports, Feroz Ahmad Khan, chairman J&K Taekwondo Association, Anil Gupta, President JKTA, PC Sharma, secretary, DN Pangotra and vice-president, Ranjeet Kalra, Shahnawaz Choudhary and Nisar Hussain.
The Association was all praise for the Minister for Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din; Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Dileep Thussu and Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal for their support in helping the players to excel.
Earlier, J&K Taekwondo Association had organized a 5-days special coaching camp in the State, prior to participation of the State team in the National Championship, under Atul Pangotra, (NIS), Commonwealth medalist.
The medal winners included Sanket Sharma, gold in Junior Individual event; Sanket Sharma and Narmita Katoch, silver in Mixed Pair event and Aman Sharma, Sanket Sharma and Honey Bali won bronze medal in Group event.
