J&K out of contest in Cricket; wins final, enters summit clash in Tennis Cricket

JAMMU, Feb 10: Losing to Uttar Pradesh in the quarterfinals, Jammu and Kashmir went out of contest in Under-17 Girls Cricket Championship, while J&K eves claimed the title in Under-19 Tennis Cricket and the boys made it to the finals of Under-19 Tennis Cricket in the ongoing 62nd National School Games, being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports at various venues, here.
In Under-17 Girls Cricket, Haryana will lock horns with Punjab in the finals, while UP will take on AP in the battle for 3rd place.
In Under-19 Girls Cricket, Jammu and Kashmir defeated formidable Delhi by 24 runs to win the title. Batting first, J&K scored 77 runs in 8 overs, while Delhi could manage only 53 runs to lose the match by 24 runs. Sonamika top scored with 38 runs for J&K and took 3 important wickets.
Earlier, in Under-19 Boys Tennis Cricket, Chhattisgarh will take on Jammu and Kashmir in the finals.
In semifinals, Chhattisgarh got better of Delhi by 6 runs, while J&K defeated Goa by 9 wickets.
The matches are being held under the overall supervision of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services and Sports and are being officiated by a panel of experts from the Department of Youth Services and School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
