JAMMU, Oct 21: Jammu and Kashmir demonstrated exceptional batting skills in the ongoing Men’s U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy at Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground-C, scoring a commanding 539/7 in their first innings by the close of play on day two. The batting trio of Yawer Hassan, captain Kanhaiya Wadhawan, and Qamran Iqbal was instrumental in this impressive total.
Yawer Hassan stole the spotlight with an unbeaten double century, amassing 203 runs off 369 balls, decorated with 23 boundaries. Kanhaiya Wadhawan played a crucial role as well, contributing 155 runs from 311 balls, including 17 fours and a six. The pair forged a significant partnership of 275 runs, showcasing their exceptional form and technique.
Earlier in the innings, Qamran Iqbal had set the tone with a brisk century, scoring 109 runs off just 90 balls, featuring 16 fours and 2 sixes. Musaif Ajaz also added a valuable 41 runs, helping to bolster the score.
At stumps, J&K stood strong at 539/7, with Yawer still at the crease alongside Janib Javaid, who was unbeaten on 7 runs. The Saurashtra bowlers faced challenges, particularly left-arm spinner Maurya Ghoghari, who took 6 wickets for 138 runs.
