Jammu, Dec 19: Skipper Jagdev Singh pulled off a sensational two runs victory over Dogra Cricket Club in the first match of the ongoing Friendship Cup – 5 matches T-20 series. The match was played at Govt Hr. School Akhnoor Cricket Ground, here today.
Jagdev dismissed Deepak (28), Bilal (0) and Naveen (0) on successive deliveries in the (his third) penultimate over of the match.
Earlier, Jammu Sports won the toss and elected to bat first and posted 129 runs on the scoreboard in the stipulated 20 overs. Arun Raina’s unbeaten 59 runs innings helped Jammu sports overcome initial losses and to post a respectable total. Mukesh (23) and Jagdev (14) were the other significant contributors for Jammu Sports total.
For Dogra CC, Praveen Kumar got 3 wickets to remain the pick of the bowlers, whereas Sumit Rajput also took 2 wickets. Sonu Malhotra, Bilal and Mannu shared 1 wicket apiece.
In reply, Dogra CC had a decent start and they were looking close to victory but a sensational spell by Jagdev Singh loaded with a hat-trick in the penultimate over of the match clinched a victory from the jaws of defeat. For Dogra CC, Sumit Rajput (36), Deepak Sharma (28) and Sonu Malhotra (17) were the top scorers.
From Jammu Sports, Jagdev Singh with 3 wickets was the wrecker in chief whereas Sham Singh Langeh took 2 wickets. Raman and Arun shared one wicket apiece.
Jammu Sports skipper Jagdev Singh was declared as player of the match for his match winning hat-trick.
