JAMMU, June 11: Concerned over the failure of authorities to better the power supply in Jagti township which reportedly has been facing 18 hour power curtailment during a day, the inmates of the camp have warned to come to streets and launch a massive agitation against the PDD authorities.
The camp inmates today warned to come to streets as Government for last two years has failed to settle the power crisis issue of the township or hold the meaningful negotiations with the community.
Dilip Kumar Pandita of Jagti Coordination Committee (JCC) said that snapping the power supply to the township for 18 hour a day is a human rights violation and despite the directives of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) the PDD authorities have not paid any attention to it and continued with 18 hour power cut.
The criminal silence adopted by the PDD authorities and State Government has forced us to launch the massive agitation as number of deaths increased in the township due to intensified heat coupled with 18 hour power cut.
“We are passing sleepless nights due to intensified heat but no one at the helm of affairs is ready to hear our woes”, he said and appealed all KP organizations to come to the rescue of the Jagti camp inmates if they have any sympathy with the community people.
The inmates of Jagti township are united on the issue, said Shadi Lal Pandita of Jagti Coordination Committee. He said the issue was taken up with higher authorities as well as Divisional Commissioner Jammu and in case the issue was not settled immediately the migrants putting up in the township will be left with no alternative but come to streets in protest.
Pandita termed it a conspiracy on the part of NC led Government which was hand in glove with the forces that led to mass exodus of minorities from Valley to put the members of hapless community in trouble at Jammu too despite the fact that GoI was bearing all expenses under security related expenses.
