JAMMU, Nov 21: To review the arrangements for 61st National School Games in the discipline of Cricket Under-17 Girls, Director General Youth Services and Sports, Jahangir Mir today chaired a meeting of the various committees framed for organizing the cricketing extravaganza at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
The meeting among others was attended by Joint Director, Madan Lal and all the District Youth Services and Sports Officers, who have been assigned the duties as heads of various committees.
The DG Sports asked the members of various committees to organize the event in a befitting manner and set an example of being number one in the Country as for as the organization of National Level Tournaments are concerned.
Mr Mir said that organizing mega National Level events in the State are a challenge and taking challenges with humility is his cup of tea, adding that the only mantra to succeed and achieve goals is to love taking challenges.
Appreciating the field staff members for organizing the recently held football extravaganza in Srinagar in a smooth and successful manner, the Director General asked the members to harness their energies up to the maximum level and leave no stone unturned in holding the event in a supreme way.
Describing the employees of the Department as the binding forces between the communities, Mr Mir said that sports and games are the medium of integration, friendship and brotherhood and the sportspersons are the messengers of peace and harmony.
He reviewed the arrangements with regard to boarding and lodging of the visiting contingents, transportation and medication, besides stressed upon the technical committee members to go into the philosophy of the things before taking decisions with regard to techniques of the game.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Haji Mirza Hussain, Deputy Director (C), Abdul Rehman, Accounts Officer and DYSSOs Mohd Ayaz Khan, Swaran Singh Chib, Thakur Dewan Chand, Subash Chander Bharadwaj, Jarpal Singh and Sunil Kumar.
