JAMMU, Nov 9: The 68th National School Games U-17 Boys Judo competition at the Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar saw exceptional performances from judokas across various States and UTs, with gold, silver, and bronze medals being awarded in the -45, -50 and -90 kg weight categories.
In the -45 kg category, Jaichun Pansa of Arunachal Pradesh claimed the gold, while Delhi’s Pundrik won silver. Maharashtra’s Himanshu Pagare and Karnataka’s Gangayya Chikkama secured the bronze medals.
Saiyam Choudhary of Chandigarh clinched gold in the -50 kg category, followed by Punjab’s Raghu Mehra who earned silver. Chintu of Uttar Pradesh and Lucky Bidhuri of Delhi shared the bronze medals.
In the -90 kg category, Babal Deep Singh of Rajasthan triumphed with a gold medal, while Haryana’s Rohit Panghal took silver. Delhi’s Kartik Bhardwaj and Koijam Bishwonat of Manipur claimed the bronze.
The medals were presented in a ceremony attended by Sunil Kumar Sharma, Accounts Officer of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, as the chief guest. He was joined by Tarsem Lal and Harvinder Kaur.
The SGFI officials and coaches from various teams praised the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K for organizing the event seamlessly. Rajasthan Judo Coach Sukhvinder Singh remarked that the arrangements were the best he had seen in his 25 years of observing the National School Games.
This U-17 Boys Judo event is part of a series of competitions, including Judo, Wushu, Fencing, and Football, being hosted in Jammu from November 7 to December 11, 2024.
