JAMMU, Apr 11: Akhnoor Zone lifted Under-19 boys title trophy, while Jammu Zone bagged Under-16 boys title in the Inter-Zonal District Level Football Competition, under the scheme ‘Let’s Play’ co-branded with Khelo India Programme for the year 2018-19 of District Jammu, which concluded at BSF Paloura Ground, here today.
Akhnoor Zone defeated Miran Sahib Zone by two goals to nil (2-0), while Jammu Zone got the better of Bhalwal Zone in a close contest by four goals to three (4-3) via tie-breaker.
In all, 610 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District took part in the competitions.
Haji Mirza Hussain, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports who was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony distributed the trophies among the winners and runners-up teams.
While addressing the gathering, he said that sports helps in infusing discipline among youth.
He lavished praise for the organisers for successful conclusion of this mega event, in which 42 teams across Jammu District took part to vie for the top honours.
The competitions are being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General, Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the organising Secretary of the tournament.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ZPEOs of District Jammu namely Jeet Singh, Sher Singh, Jaswant Singh and Tarsem Singh.
