JAMMU, May 8: Bana Singh Stadium in RS Pura saw a congregation of runners, cyclists, athletes, wrestlers and social workers today as all major athletic clubs of Jammu came together to pay tribute to ace Marathon runner and ex-Ranji player Pranav Mahajan.
Pranav lost his life last month due to cardiac arrest. Emotionally charged run of 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers was flagged off by Dr Manju Lata, the bereaved mother of Pranav Mahajan in the presence of other family members.
More than 200 runners from RS Pura, Jammu and nearby areas participated in the run.
Volunteers from SKUAST Morning Walkers Association provided hydration and nutrition support to the runners enroute and at the finishing point.
People of RS Pura and border villages supported the run and opined that such activities inspire the youth to take up healthy lifestyle and keep them away from the nexus of drug abuse.
They expressed that more such sports and social activities should be organized in the memory of Pranav Mahajan, who made the R S Pura area proud by representing Jammu and Kashmir in Ranji trophy and inspired scores of people to take up healthy lifestyle.
The run was jointly organised by SKUAST Morning Walkers Association, MRS Sports Club, Jammu Runners Group, FIST Fighter Club, Kathua Distance Runners Club, Eco Cycleturr Foundation, Jammu Hills Sports Club, and other athletic clubs of the Jammu. The event was supported by Municipal Committee, RS Pura.
